Robots hold the potential to relieve people from repetitive physical tasks. Unfortunately, today’s robots operate in environments designed and structured for them. Robots in these structured environments are energy inefficient, dangerous and scripted. This prevents their use in dynamic human-driven environments and diverse tasks. To address these limitations, we leverage AI research for mobile robot manipulation to create a robot helper that possesses human-like abilities, including a similar arm’s reach, multiple sensors, and the capacity to learn from humans through observation and multi-lingual communication.
