Projectomschrijving

Dit onderzoek bestudeert de veranderingen in de laat-Romeinse aristocratie van 565 tot 641. In deze periode verloor de imperiale elite aan belang tegenover de provinciale. De basis van deze studie is een prosopografie die het mogelijk maakt om de verschillende leden van de aristocratie te identificeren en zo de invloed van socio-economische en institutionele dynamieken op deze groep te achterhalen.
