De ‘voorwaarste genetica’-aanpak ligt aan de basis van onze kennis van de celbiologie. Maar zulke aanpak is amper uitgebouwd voor zoogdiercellen. Het doel van dit project is de optimalisatie en het aftasten van de grenzen van een methode voor ‘gestuurde cellijn evolutie’ die gebruik maakt van de eigenschap van HEK293-cellen om te evolueren via een meer natuurlijk mutatie-accumulatie proces.
