Wij stellen een interdisciplinair onderzoeksprogramma voor dat moleculair en structureel biologisch, celbiologisch en immunologisch basisonderzoek verenigt om de interactiemodus en werking te ontrafelen van een recent ontdekt cytokine, interleukine 34 (IL-34), met zijn hematopoëtische receptor tyrosine kinase III (RTKIII) receptor, Colony Stimulating Factor -1 Receptor (CSF-1R of c-fms).
