In this project, vertical cavity lasers (VCELs) are integrated on a silicon wave track platform. Such lasers and laser arrays allow for the realization of compact and inexpensive spectroscopic systems for various applications in the medical and environmental sectors. The emphasis is on the realization of components that emit in the short wave infrared, i.e. between 1.5 and 3um
