Wide-field microscopie wordt gebruikt voor dunne stalen, biedt een lage licht intensiteit en kan frames vastleggen met een snelheid van ongeveer 20 frames per seconde. Het instrument is uitgerust voor zowel helderveld (fase-contrast, differentiële interferentiecontrast: DIC) als fluorescentie beeldvorming.
