Although Italian has historically had a strong presence in Belgium, the teaching of Italian in the country varies significantly depending on the region. Moreover, the support provided by Italian institutions for Italian language teaching is limited. In the Brussels area, Italian teachers sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs play a key role, but they often lack access to essential information to adapt their teaching effectively. The project examines the state of Italian language teaching in Belgium, focusing on the Brussels area. It gathers data on the regulatory framework governing Italian language instruction, provides a critical overview of the teaching resources available to educators, and explores the experiences of a group of teachers through direct testimonials. The aim of the research is to make this information accessible in a structured way to Italian teachers, thereby enhancing their ability to effectively support the teaching and promotion of Italian in Belgium.
