Project description
There are several collaborations taking place within various projects. All are related to animal nutrition and optimal use of local feed resources. Concerns in relation to environmental pollution caused by animal production and competition between human food and animal feed are included in the collaborative projects. An example of such a project deals with ‘Mitigation of ammonia and odorous emissions from pig manure through nutritional strategies and its use as substrate for earth worm production’. Reduction of emissions from manure are tackled through a dual strategy, i.e. by choosing feedstuffs which are not in competition with human nutrition and the production of earth worms on manure to better close nutrient cycles.
