Abstract
This work focuses on the traditional history of mural paintings produced by the Congolese people from the northeastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, both before and during the colonial period. The study aims to provide an anthropological history of mural painting practices as a form of communication in Haut- Uele, targeting key sites such as the former courthouse in Niangara, the Kupa chieftaincy- formely known as the village of Ekibondo among the Bangba people in Kungwe- the old courthouse building in Isiro , and the residence of Chief Angaa.
This research will allow us to identify the remaining traces of these murals, the Congolese painters of Uélé, understand how they worked , and who trained them.
Finally, we will analyze the circumstances surrounding these murals and their connections to local traditional customs.
