1) Are there genetic markers for the reduced mite reproduction phenotype in the Belgian bee herd?
- Are the different variants identified in the Dutch Dune population (= results Varresist project) also and in
sufficiently present in our Belgian bee herd and provide the same phenotype confirmation of the
genotype/phenotype association of the Belgian bee herd in drone brood.
- Can the genotype be confirmed in workers? Are the markers dominant of recessive?
Until now, very concentrated drone brood has been developed for analysis in a strongly expanded
is becoming. The genetic analysis in workers will also give us an idea of the dominant/recessive traits
of these markers, which is indispensable knowledge for setting up a breeding program (research question 2) certainly
the taunting of hapodiploid sex determination. With this data, one can
genotype/phenotype association study in workers.
2) How can we set up a MAS program?
Can we cross all "protective" alleles of all eight marker combinations and derivatives this to the other?
