Hepatocellulair carcinoom is 3de oorzaak van kankergerelateerde mortaliteit. Cytostatica leveren geen verbeterde overleving. Chemoresistentiemodificerende medicatie is nodig. Hypoxie en endoplasmatisch reticulum stress kunnen chemoresistentie veroorzaken. De werkzaamheid van anti-P1GF suggereert dat dit een antitumorale benadering kan worden. Farnesylthiosalicylaat is RAS competitor. Het HCC muismodel dient om effect van anti-P1GF en farnesylthiosalicylaat te evalueren op hypoxie, ER stress en chemoresistentie.
