Vele keuzes zijn aanvankelijk gebaseerd op het optimaliseren van een resultaat (bvb. het lekkerste broodje uit het menu kiezen) maar worden na verloop van tijd habitueel: automatisch en moeilijk te veranderen. Het niet kunnen overwinnen van ongewenste gewoontes draagt bij tot problemen zoals obesitas. Dit onderzoeksproject gebruikt computationele modellen, fMRI en neurostimulatie en onderzoekt hoe gewoontes gevormd en overwonnen worden.
