Recent studies show that more than one third of the Belgian coast is vulnerable to flooding, which can be developed further in the future due to climate change. The main protective measure consists in the repeated supply of sand on the beaches and foreshore, but the design and implementation of an efficient and sustainable sippletie is a major challenge. This project aims to address the uncertainties in this area through research on integrated multi-scale wave-flow sediment modeling, advanced modeling of handling risks in coastal communities and an improved understanding of coastal processes. Another aim is to inventory data, modeling and monitoring techniques, improved climate scenarios for the Belgian coast and dissemination and exploitation of the project results to stakeholders
