Recent studies show that breast irradiation in the prone position offers an advantage over supine radiation: fewer acute side effects and a lower risk of radiation-induced heart disease or lung cancer. However, prone positioning is a complex procedure that is difficult to reproduce and uncomfortable for the patient. Innovative treatment tables for prone position are needed, not only to solve the aforementioned problems, but also to investigate the combination of breast and lymph node radiation.
