Project description

This PhD sonder search will be the one paid attention to the conditions for use (irrigation) water during cultivation and after -oogstbehandelingen of fruits and vegetables. Water can be a transmission route for pathogens. Next zoonotic bacterial pathogens such as Salmonella, Campylobacter and VTEC zijnook viruses (eg. Norovirus, Rotavirus) enteric pathogens that can contaminate through water, vegetables and fruits. Methods will be implemented for detection of these pathogens, as well as be applied to various types (irrigation) water. The results will help to assess the risk of water contamination as a source of microbiological hazards for fruit and vegetables. Alternatively existing technologies will, which can serve as intervention on a microbiological level for the primary sector, are tested and all this within a certain legal framework.
