Project description

The aim of the Knowledge Centre is to capture, expand and keep available the scientific knowledge and experience regarding the behaviour of ships in shallow or confined waters to support the admission policy and the development of the waterways for ships to (the Flemish) ports and for inland navigation. The tasks of the Knowledge Centre are

- expanding and deepening knowledge of sailing in shallow and confined water by initiating and coordinating research, networking, providing further training for participants, expanding the number of knowledge holders and raising awareness among hydraulic engineers and personnel from the maritime and inland navigation sectors;

- preserve knowledge by developing documentation on this field of expertise;

- disseminate and increase this knowledge available in Flanders in the field of sailing in shallow and limited waters by means of publication, documentation, participation in scientific activities and international contacts.
