Project description
Opathie (van Omics van PATHogenics gist) is een innovatief translationeel onderzoek training netwerk dat het potentieel van de volgende generatie high-throughput technologieën, waaronder genomics, transcriptomics en proteomics zal onderzoeken, om de interacties van gisten die ziekten bij de mens veroorzaken studeren (bv Candida en Cryptococcus sp.) met hun gastheer, en om nieuwe diagnostische hulpmiddelen om schimmelinfecties in de kliniek te controleren ontwikkelen.
Role of Ghent University
Het Laboratorium voor Bacteriologisch Onderzoek (Faculteit Geneeskunde en Gezondheidswetenschappen) zal zich richten op Candida vaginitis (acute en chronische infectie) en dubbele RNA-sequencing toepassen om de expressie van virulentiekenmerken bij Candida albicans te bepalen, tegelijkertijd met de lokale vaginale immuunrespons van de patient. Eén ESR zal dit onderzoek uitvoeren in nauwe samenwerking met het CRG (Barcelona, Spanje) en het Hans Knoll Instituut (Jena, Duitsland).
