Projectomschrijving
ETpathfinder is een R&D-infrastructuur voor het testen en prototypen van innovatieve concepten en ondersteunende technologieën voor de Einstein Telescope, de eerste van een nieuwe klasse van toekomstige zwaartekrachtgolfobservatoria.
Rol van UGent
De Universiteit Gent neemt deel aan de bouw van het grote hoogvacuümsysteem voor ETpathfinder. De eisen aan de stofzuiger zijn zeer hoog om het geluid zoveel mogelijk te beperken. De COCOON-onderzoeksgroep is actief in de studie van nieuwe spiegelcoatingtechnieken en de karakterisering van de nieuwe coatings.
