Project description

In early nineteenth-century Ghent, architecture emancipated as an artistic discipline. By focusing on the social position of the architect and the institutionalisation of the artistic education, a nuanced reflection is created towards the Ghent cultural and intellectual milieu. Primary methods are archival research and the analysis of representative case studies.
