Brain Computer Interfaces kunnen mensen met een neurologische aandoening helpen om communicatie en controle tot op een zekere hoogte te herstellen. De huidige systemen kampen echter met de heersende variabiliteit in de EEG-signalen tussen personen. Door gebruik te maken van ICA, uitgebreid met spatiale informatie van de elektroden, kan een robuuste BCI gerealiseerd worden. Naast de technische realisatie wordt ook gekeken naar de invloed die het gebruik van BCI uitoefent op veranderende hersenpatronen door plasticiteit.
