Project description

This doctoral research critically evaluates the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime (EU GHRSR) to determine the conditions under which the EU prioritises certain norms and individuals for sanctions designation over others and the factors limiting its full-fledged application. Utilising norms-based social constructivism theory, and a multivariate explanatory approach, the study aims to deconstruct the policy process of sanctions designation practices behind the EU GHRSR.
