Deze studie beoogt het vergroten van kennis en inzicht in de 30-jarige strijd van de Koerdisch nationale beweging in Turkije. Het onderzoekt de evolutie van de PKK van verzetsbeweging tot transnationale sociale beweging, en het ontstaan van Koerdische 'identity politics' als uitkomst van die beweging. Het onderzoek situeert zich op het raakvlak van drie gebieden: ethno-nationalisme, sociale bewegingen en identiteitspolitiek.
