Project description

Milk fat globule membrane (MFGM)-glycoproteins are known for their protective effects against binding of pathogens to the mucosa of the gastro-intestinal tract. In this study, fractions of MFGM-glycoproteins were obtained and tested for their capacity to prevent adhesion of bacteria to a mucus layer. Secondly, the effects of the MFGM-glycoprotein fractions on the colonic microbial ecosystem has been investigated.
