Project description

Peroxisomes are cellular organnelles that perform the formation and breakdown of certain lipids. We hypothezise that peroxisomal β-oxidation could interfere with immune responses. Therefore the role of peroxisomal metabolism in model systems of neuroinflammation, chronic airway inflammation and sepsis will be analyzed. We will use generalized and conditional knockout mice lacking MFP2, an essential enzyme of peroxisomal β-oxidation.
