Project description

The development of surgical software for choice assistance in hip replacement on the basis of geometrically fitting fit. The final software product will contain various innovative features such as fully automatic segmentation, a functional result prediction, an 'assisted learning' function and a healthy twin reconstruction.
Concrete goals:
Fully-automatic form and view -extraction of the femur and pelvis anatomy from low-dose CT images for the planning of total hip replacement and the fitting of the prosthetic components; prediction of the functional outcome for the patient and of the prosthesis stability; bringing together system requirements and software architecture for the development of the prototype; development of the necessary algorithms to include the follow-up results; development of a 2D to 3D evaluation tool for patient follow-up.
