Pocketvergisters kunnen zorgen voor invulling van de energievraag van een bedrijf op vlak van elektriciteit en warmte via warmtekrachtkoppeling,aanpak van broeikasgasemissies uit de stal en de benutting van bedrijfseigen stromen voor biogasproductie. Tot op vandaag vindt de pocketvergisting in vlaanderen zo goed als enkel plaats op melkveebedrijven.
