Anaerobic digestion is a crucial process in the framework of renewable energy production. At present, this process is being operated and controlled, based on simple parameters, which often leads to process failure. In this research, new indicators are being developed, based on a fundamental understanding of the microbial community involved in the process, to allow more efficient process control.
