Voor het aanmaken, kweken en manipuleren van pluripotente stamcellen is een gespecialiseerde Laminar Air Flow met geïntegreerde microscoop noodzakelijk, alsook een CO2 incubator.
Voor genome editing en andere manipulaties van deze stamcellen, is een nucleofector het meest aangewezen instrument. Via nucleofectie kunnen constructen tot in de celkern gebracht worden, om daar een stabiele knockout te genereren (of andere).
