Project description
Great works are infinitely meaningful, semantically unstable. By contrast, Franco’s (1939-75) strategy was to stabilize the meaning of public discourse. How did the Francoist censorship hermeneutics deal with interpretive (in)stability? Which text-stabilizing techniques do Francoist translations exhibit? This project involves a status quaestionis and a self-developed case (translation from the French, English, Dutch, Norwegian, Danish, or Swedish).
