Project description

The discovery in the Belgian Royal Army Museum of 53 German WW1 aerial photographs led to an archaeological and landscape research of the forgotten war heritage in the province of Antwerp. The German aerial photographs taken by Lieutenant Zimmermann were located, georectified and consequently interpreted and mapped. Based on these results, the former fortification line around Antwerp was surveyed to examine the present day conservation of the field defences and bunkers.
