Project description
The proposed research project will focus on the artisanal and small-scale extraction of gold and diamonds in Liberia, and use this as a lense to study informal networks and power structures in post-conflict African countries. Utilizing ethnographic research methods, it seeks to contribute to the debate on governance conditions in weak and post-conflict states, with an emphasis on resource-rich contexts.
