Wesley De Neve coordinates research activities in the field of biotech data science, addressing both short- and long-term challenges related to the representation and analysis of biomedical imagery and biological sequences. His research targets use cases such as the detection of parasites and microplastics in microscopy images, the quantification of tumor spread in surgical videos, and the structural and functional annotation of DNA/RNA and protein sequences, primarily using trustworthy (deep) machine learning techniques. The funding requested from the BOF will support these research activities.
