Project description
This research project aims to connect two neighbouring fields of study: desistance from crime and disengagement from violent extremism. It does so (1) by systematically comparing both literatures, (2) by applying desistance theories to narratives of extremist disengagement and, (3) by examining current efforts to promote disengagement in Belgium through a criminological lens.
