Biofotonica beoogt vooruitgang in de levenswetenschappen door de ontwikkeling en toepassing van nieuwe fotonische technologieën. Optische moleculaire microscopie is een belangrijk deelaspect van biofotonica met diverse toepassingsmogelijkheden. Dit project is daarom toegespitst op de ontwikkeling van nieuwe geavanceerde microscopiemethodes en de toepassing ervan op farmaceutische en biomedische probleemstellingen.
