Project description

Milk fat depression is associated with unwanted shifts in rumen micro-organisms responsible for the biohydrogenation of poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Cows differ in susceptibility whereas goats are not susceptible. These inter-animal and inter-species differences will be used innovatively in 4 animal trials, during which milk fat depression will be induced to better characterize the circumstances in which the shift occurs.
