Project description

Chemical control is the last decade under increasing pressure by stringent (eco) toxicological requirements and Flemish, national and European reduction 'programs. There is a growing need for an integrated approach in which cultivation technical measures (the selection of varieties, soil treatment, crop rotation, ed.), And an alternative anti-techniques (physical, biological, ecological, or the like) are combined with the use of crop protection chemicals. In this project we will focus view of the development, characterization and implementation of biological fungicides for vegetable crops cultivation. This is an important sector for Flanders who also faces a limited range of permitted chemical fungicides. In concrete terms, it has been decided to select four major diseases (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Rhizoctonio Solane, Phytophora porri, Verticillium spp.), Which can cause damage to the following four, economically relevant plants (bean, pea, cauliflower, and leeks comprise about 57% of the area) .
