Floods can have very serious consequences. In order to reduce the impacts of floods, they need to be considered from a broad perspective. A comprehensive and integrative approach combines the technical measures with the economic, ecological (environmental) and social aspects. FLOTHER lays the emphasis on social aspects, associated with floods. It will investigate how vulnerable and resilient people are and how it can be measured. A GIS tool will be developed.
