Project description
This dissertation examines the early modern use of nominal forms of address in Dutch, focusing on sociolinguistic variables (e.g. gender and social status) and within the context of politeness. In addition, methodical research is conducted to evaluate the suitability of dialogue books as historical source material, with a specific focus on comparison with other historical sources, especially letters and plays.
