Project description

Fieldwork: data generation

The archaeological partners wish to upgrade and extend the computational hard- & software and photographic equipment, documenting excavation. In case of survey and remote sensing, available instruments need upgrading and extending, in particular the radar (GPR) equipment and the capacities for earth resistance measurements and low altitude remote sensing (UAV). Subsurface surveying requires a mobile coring infrastructure.

Post-fieldwork: data processing and interpretation

Increasing the time/space analytical qualities of the datasets generated by the associated archaeological projects, and co-developing integrated GIS-infrastructure relevant to archaeological analysis requires upgraded cloud storage and computing power available to the entire consortium, as well as specifically trained staff to co-develop the relevant and innovative GIS-based research infrastructure and maintain/operate the proposed equipment, not in the least the mobile coring unit.
