Projectomschrijving

The chytrid Batrachochytrium salamandrivorans (Bsal) is an invasive species in the Netherlands and Belgium. This fungus causes extreme die-offs among populations of native salamander species, and is expanding southwards. The proposed, interdisciplinary research covers a combination of laboratory- and mesocosm experiments and ecological modeling to assess potential invasion success of Bsal, aiming to support mitigation strategies to halt its expansion.
