Project description

The airways are continuously exposed to different allergens, poluents, and micro-organisms, including disease causing agents such as respiratory virusses. An important first layer of defense is the production of mucosal antibodies, which are derived from mucosal B cel responses. How these responses are regulated in disease and homeostasis is still not completely understood.

The aim of this project is to better understand immune responses in the airways, with a focus on B cell responses in the mucosa and lymphoid organs. To this end, a combination of murine models, human samples and state-of-the-art molecular and bioinformatics techniques will be used.
