Project description

The major goal of the branding project is the development of bran-based dispersions that are used

to optimise host health through steering entire microbial teams that form Important building blocks

to the gut microbiome.

Randomised complete block design trials will be used to evaluate the effect of dietary platforms added to

the feed of broilers on performance. For each treatment, six replicates of 34 birds each will be used.

Average pen weight and feed intake will be recorded on day 1, 13, 26, and 39. Feed conversion (FC)

ratios (based on bird-days), daily growth rate, and feed intake per bird will be calculated for each interval

and for the entire growth period (1-39 days). At different time points, samples of the litter will be taken

for moisture content determination. At day 21, five birds of each rep licate will be taken and

inflammatory parameters, microbiota composition and gut wall morphology will be analysed using

methods described above (analysis bu UGent).
