Project description
This project studies the letter collections of the Council of Chalcedon (451 AD) from a socio-legal and rhetorical perspective. It discloses the rhetorical strategies of these letters and the narrative of their collections, and analyzes their impact on imperial and ecclesiastical decision making processes before, during, and after Chalcedon.
