Project description

This project will investigate the causes, consequences, and transmission mechanisms of food price fluctuations. First, the importance (and heterogeneous impact) of different drivers of food prices will be investigated. Next, I will analyze the role of biofuels in the creation of a connection between food and oil markets. Finally, the transmission mechanisms of food shocks to other macroeconomic variables will be analyzed.
