Project description

People with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) experience difficulties acquiring and performing motor skills. DCD is a neurobiological developmental disorder, related to other developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder or ADHD, with which DCD often occurs together. Given the great importance of motor skills in almost all daily activities, DCD hinders the development of the child and, in the long term, the disorder limits participation in playful, sporting and school activities. Through our research into the perceptual and cognitive processes involved in learning motor skills, we want to better map and understand the problems of people with DCD in order to optimize therapeutic care. To this end, we study the brain waves when observing and learning movements.
