Project description
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease where the airflow from the lungs is obstructed. In the United States, it is estimated that 16 million Americans have this disease, whereas millions more people suffer from COPD but have not yet been diagnosed, causing a lot of morbidity and mortality. The aim of the project is to develop explainable machine learning models that can be used in a convenient, closed-loop, multi-modal, wearable patch solution for predicting acute exacerbations of COPD and COPD management.
