The ICP program 'Nematology' 'has to meet the main objective of the international need for university qualified nematologists at the level of a Master's degree through a multidisciplinary basic and comprehensive up-to-date knowledge in the various aspects of Nematology. With the exception of human parasites (which belong to the field of medicine) and the parasites of vertebrates (covered in the discipline veterinary medicine), the Nematology program offers a thorough education in all other groups of nematodes, especially free-living soil - aquatic nematodes and parasites of plants and insects and then uses both basic techniques and the most advanced molecular and genetic engineering. Offering has form nematologists objective of a diversified program that can provide for the various nematode problems in agriculture in their country, the biological control of insect pests with insect parasitic nematodes and the use of nematodes as bio-indicators for determining independent guidance and advice the health of soil and water ecosystems. This is envisaged through theoretical and practical teaching, micro teaching, training, personal research, literature study, field work and study trips.
