Project description

The overall goal of this project is to analyze whether S. aureus could modulate mitochondrial biogenesis and cell death in human epithelial cells. Mitochondrial proteins will be analyzed by proteomics approach upon S. aureus infection of epihtelial cells. Next, mitochondrial proteins will be validated by knockdown studies. The consequent inflammatory response will be studied in human nasal mucosa explants.
