Project description

The growing teacher shortage in Flanders is a challenge for schools. Therefore, focusing on attracting and retaining teachers in schools is essential. In response to this issue, schools were given the opportunity by the Flemish Government to experiment with new ideas in the fight against the teacher shortage. Under the supervision of Melissa Tuytens, a study was conducted to monitor these schools over the past school years. These school experiments play an important signaling role regarding possible solutions that schools (or school groups) themselves identify in their HR policies to counter the teacher shortage. To make this possible, further research and valorization are needed concerning the indications of the effects of these HR policies. By continuing to map these effect indications over the long term, we can make a valuable scientific contribution to understanding the potential of strategic, development-oriented personnel policies in tackling the teacher shortage.
