Er wordt verwacht dat tropische bossen in verschillende continenten en regio’s een specifieke respons en feedback zullen vertonen op een veranderend toekomstig klimaat. Desalniettemin wordt hier geen rekening mee gehouden in huidige globale klimaatvoorspellingen. Daarom zal dit project de eerste regio-specifieke parameterisatie ontwikkelen voor tropisch bos voor het globale vegetatiemodel ORCHIDEE-CAN.
